🔬 Looking for something to do this summer with your young Scientist-in-training? 🧪

Suncrest College is hosting two USask Sci-Fi Science Camps this summer and spots are still available!

Satellite camps will be located at our Yorkton and Melfort campuses for campers heading into grades 1 to 6.

Campers will learn about engineering, technology, ecology and chemistry through the week of July 29th to August 2nd.

🚒 Working together, for the future 🚑

Earlier today, Suncrest's Fire and P*P students teamed up to facilitate vehicle extractions at the Saskatchewan Emergency Response Institute.

It was a simulation of what is to come in the near future for these soon to be Fire Fighters and Paramedics, working together to ensure public safety.

✈️ SUNCREST GOES INTERNATIONAL ✈️

As part of the Skills to Access the Green Economy (SAGE) international project, Suncrest recently had staff travel to Belize to provide five days of interactive training on Creating a Supportive Environment for Student Success.

Topics of focus were Career Guidance, Occupational Profiles, Mental Health, and Proactive Support for retention and success.

26 participants joined from four high schools and from our SAGE partner institution, Stann Creek ITVET.

🎓 Earlier today, Suncrest College celebrated the graduates of the Spring Skills for Success for Newcomers Program.

This program is focused on providing learners with employment readiness and language development skills for the workplace.

The students ended the program with a 2-week work placement, with most students hired on following those work placements.

Congratulations to all of our graduates, and good luck in your future endeavors!

Yesterday, Suncrest College was honoured to be visited by Colleges and Institutes Canada / Collèges et instituts Canada's President & CEO, Pari Johnston.

We toured Suncrest College's Trades & Technology Centre, as well as the Saskatchewan Emergency Response Institute, showcasing some of the College's great work.

Suncrest also welcomed executives from all of Saskatchewan's regional college network to our facilities to network, strategize and build upon our successes, as well as share opportunities for collaboration as regional colleges in the province.

The Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort was filled with excitement as we celebrated the remarkable achievements of the Suncrest College Class of 2024! With about 400 attendees, the ceremony was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our graduates.

We honoured students from a wide range of programs, including adult education and certificate programs in agriculture, business, health, and trades.

Yesterday, Yorkton's Anne Portnuff Theatre was PACKED as we celebrated the achievements of Suncrest's graduating class of 2024!

⚕️ IS A CAREER AS A PARAMEDIC IN YOUR FUTURE? ⚕️

🧠 Let us know how we can help! Suncrest College offers a Primary Care Paramedic certificate program, preparing YOU to work in the field of pre-hospital emergency care.

For each cohort, we welcome 12 students into the program, all with the goal of providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become certified paramedics.

This program covers a wide range of topics including emergency medical services, patient assessment, trauma care, and medical emergencies.

Alongside hands-on experience through clinical placements and practical training sessions, graduates are well-prepared to work in various healthcare settings.

✈️ SUNCREST HITS THE AIR ✈️

Recently, as part of the Skills to Access the Green Economy (SAGE) International Project, Suncrest's Dr. Gwen Machnee joined our Belizean partners from the University of Belize and Stann Creek ITVET at the Applied Research Symposium in Grenada.

Dr. Gerardo Aldana from UB presented his research data on Soil Mapping.

Students were involved in gathering and analyzing data as part of their Climate Smart Agriculture Associates Degree, developed through SAGE.

Suncrest College was presented with two Education for Sustainable Development awards recently, highlighting two programs within the institution.

Presented by His Honour the Honourable Russ Mirasty, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Suncrest’s awards surround the work done at both the Suncrest College Skills for Success: Sustainable Construction, as well as the Biobed Demonstration Project at ECRF/Suncrest Research Farm.

☀️ CREATING CONVERSATION 🗣

On Thursday throughout Suncrest's campus locations, the Moose Hide Campaign was held with walks, conversation and bringing awareness to the crisis.

Moose Hide Campaign was started in BC over ten years ago because the number of women and girls that have gone missing on along what is known as the Highway of Tears. It was started by a father and daughter, Raven and Paul Lacerte, that wanted to help put a stop to violence against women.

We also made available Moose Hide Campaign pins at all of our campus locations, meant to start and continue the conversation surrounding the crisis.
