Spatial Interaction Games - GUC Berlin Workshop 2017 Spatial Interaction Games – Interdisciplinary GUC Berlin workshop by Alex Essen (Lecturer, Media Design) and Merna Hany (Architecture).

In cooperation with the workshop “Urban Sketching and Photography” by Ines Schroeder (Lecturer, Architecture) A cooperation project by Media Design GUC / Architecture GUC. Briefing about the academic content

Aim of the workshop: Creating an Augmented Reality game concept for a spatial, interactive, social and medial connection between two places and two players in Cairo and Berlin. Feature requir

ements: Interactive game (mini games); App with messenger, Augmented Reality and QR-Code; Intercultural comparisons; Location depending, e.g.: Cairo Tower vs “Berliner Fernsehturm”; Spatial qualities. Game principle: The game follows the principle of paper chase. Play at and go to several different spots (which are marked with QR codes). Each scan of a QR code opens a mini game (to be created by students). By solving it, a hint for reaching the next spot appears. The benefits will be generated by: Challenge, Facebook, likes, photos, visual documentary of space, social interaction and intercultural exchange. Research by students: Spatial qualities; Documentation; Social Interaction; Games and gamification; Requirements for programming; Usability. In addition to that we will cooperate with the workshop “Urban Sketching and Photography” given by Ines Schroeder. The sketching and photography results of this workshop will be implemented in the spatial interaction games. Further we will visit together TU Berlin and invite a guest speaker from Germany: Moritz Bock, Founder & VFX-Supervisor of the Berlin based company "MovieBrats".
