College (Maharaj Lakshmishwar Singh Memorial College), Darbhanga witnessed historic beginning under the patronage of Rajkumar Shubheshwar Singh, popularly known as Kumar-Saheb and the dynamic galaxy of eminent scholars and social workers. They initiated positive measures and worked tirelessly towards objectives, and as a result the college came to its brilliant
existence in June-July of 1979. The

college, with an illustrious past, emerged as one of the prestigious colleges of L.N. It achieved the dignified status of a degree college in Science, Arts and
Commerce streams in 1984 with retrospective effect from 1979. It was converted into a constituent unit of L. Mithila University, Darbhanga by the order of Govt. Thanks to the selfless devotion of its outstanding teachers and dedicated non-teaching employees that this college soon attained prominence among
students yearning for higher studies. As a token of acknowledgement and appreciation, the university conferred it Grade 'A' in 2010. The college has already marched long steps of development and excellence. It is now famed for qualified teaching faculty, good results of students, regular and punctual classes, involvement of teachers and students towards appropriate teaching-learning mechanism, promoting innovative-academic as well as research oriented activities, encouraging extra-curricular practices, fostering discipline on campus, etc.
