For the second year in a row, Poppy Teague, vocal performance major from Tulsa, OK, won First Place in her division at the National Association of Teachers of Singing national conference. Winning your division at NATS once is quite an accomplishment, but winning as a Freshman and again as a Sophomore is simply remarkable! We hope you can make it to the Percussion Ensemble concert Monday, April 15, at 7:30 pm, in the WPAC Recital Hall. The first half of the concert will feature some beautiful, introspective works for keyboard percussion ensemble. Then, after a short intermission, we’ll move out to the north end of the WPAC for some great steelband tunes. It should be a lot of fun — hope to see you there!

ALUMNI RECITAL: Sunday, April 6, 4:00 pm, at the WPAC Recital Hall. Come enjoy baritone Isaac Bray and pianist Abigail Payne in what will undoubtedly be a 🔥🔥🔥 performance. Free admission.

Isaac Bray has performed numerous opera roles and other solo engagements with musical organizations around the United States including Florida Grand Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, Opera San Antonio and Charlottesville Opera, and the Bangor Symphony. Notable opera roles include Marcello in La Bohème, the title role in Don Giovanni, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Le DancaÏre in Carmen, and Sam in Trouble in Tahiti. Bray has performed local solo engagements with the Bar Harbor Music Festival, Bagaduce Chorale, Acadia Choral Society, and Blue Hill Bach. Bray was a member of the Florida Grand Opera Young Artist Studio, the Bonfils-Stanton Apprentice Program with Central City Opera, and the apprentice artist program with the Natchez Festival of Music. He is a graduate of the Boston University Opera Institute, The Boston Conservatory, and Abilene Christian University. Mr. Bray teaches on the voice faculty at the University of Maine and also serves on the board of the Maine chapter of NATS.

Two excellent opportunities this week to support our colleagues at Chorus Abilene! On Saturday, April 6, at 7pm, be inspired by Mozart’s Requiem, featuring chamber orchestra and guest soloists. Then, on Sunday at 4pm, don’t miss a recital with baritone Isaac Bray and pianist Abigail Payne, at the WPAC Recital Hall. We’re so thrilled to host Isaac and Abigail, who are both ACU Music alums.

We had a fantastic Departmental Recital today! Congratulations to Jenna, Evi, and yes four pianists at one time…Georgia, Jalyn, Will, and Dr. Yuan-Hung Lin. Our monthly recitals featuring faculty and student performers are an important time for us to gather to support our community, a time to expand our musical vocabulary, and a time to reflect on the goodness of God’s creation as expressed in music. We wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter!
