Calling All Teachers: Drones are back by popular demand!

UVA Wise will host Drones for Teachers on Monday, June 7, 1 PM-4 PM, at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.

Participants in this hands-on workshop will use Tynker's intuitive visual programming language to fly Parrott Drones. Teachers will be introduced to the concepts of flight and discover what is required to troubleshoot a drone in the classroom. Attendees will experience the satisfaction of accomplishment as they program the drone to complete each mission.

Calling all teachers!

Robots will be part of our future! Join us on Friday morning, May 21 from 9 AM until Noon at Crossroads Institute's Higher Education Center in Galax to be introduced to coding and learn to maneuver a round Sphero robot through a maze, first by driving it, then by programming it.

Teachers will discover ideas for how this tool and block programming can be used to engage students in the classroom. The importance of sequencing and executing a program will be stressed. Teachers will enjoy hands-on programming and develop ideas for implementation.

Class size will be limited in order to observe physical distancing measures.
