Hear from Dr. Christopher Cobbler, Executive Director for the Center for Vocational Formation and Dean of Vocational Formation at ACU Online as he invites us into a season of stillness. Winter has a rhythm much different than the rest of the year. We, like the earth, need moments to stop, to be still, to do nothing at all. These moments of rest and restoration are essential to our creativity. “If we fail to establish regular practices of stillness and rest, our creativity will be either exhausted or shallow. Creativity without rest, and productivity without renewal, leads to an exhumation of our inner resources.” - J. Philip Newell
Gratitude is a matter of perception; it is a necessary discipline that contributes to the condition of our inner life. It’s thought that birds and butterflies see more color than humans through an additional fourth ultraviolet cone of color vision. Therefore, as our human eyes take in so many colors over the coming autumn weeks, the birds above see even more; and, God sees infinitely more than all creatures combined. As school begins again in earnest, we invite you to keep this perspective. Look and see all the beauty of God’s creation erupting around you, but also remember, when the busyness overwhelms, assignments challenge, and problems arise that God has a clearer vision–a perspective that we can only imagine. Yet, in the middle of this infinite clarity, God created and situated you; perfectly, colorfully, and wonderfully made. Live in this peace today, giving thanks for all the wonders of God available to you.

Study Tip: Digest information in multiple ways. One of the best ways to retain information that you study is to interact with it in multiple formats.
