Everyone has a creative spark that can be nurtured and cultivated in a systematic way. Everyone can be creative.

On Friday, April 8th, 2011 President Docking delivered the annual State of the College address. Entitled “Unleashing Creativity”, this address was unique in that Dr. Docking brought forth members of the Adrian College campus community to deliver the address, highlighting creative ideas for the College. Docking said “the beauty of creativity, as we all know, is its egalitarian nature. It is a human

attribute that knows no limitations because of race, religion, age, gender, or creed. It is only limited by each person’s mind.”

One of the ideas brought forth was the idea of the Creativity Award. This award will be given to the top idea submitted by an Adrian College student or employee, as evaluated by a selection committee. The submitter of the award will receive a $1000 prize and the winning idea will be funded up to $10,000 to implement on campus.

“The future of this institution, in my opinion, depends on creativity,” Docking said, “and our collective ability to devote ourselves, individually and as a community, to creatively re-imagining, reinventing, enhancing, improving and changing, in large ways and in small, how Adrian College does everything from educating students to recruiting talented faculty members to taking care of our grounds.”
