“Our pottery wheels were over 35 years old and in desperate need of replacement,” Travis Erxleben, Adrian College Assistant Professor of ceramics and 3D design said. “This grant allowed us to provide a much better learning environment with less disruption.”

Students in the new major program will complete general exercise science courses with the added instruction of the specialized needs of tactical personnel. At the end of the program students will be prepared for well-renowned national certifications including Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) as well as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Conveniently located approximately 45 minutes from Ann Arbor, Mich., and Toledo, Ohio, Adrian College, a liberal college in the United Methodist tradition, is committed to the pursuit of truth and dignity of all people. Through active and creative learning in a supportive community, undergraduate and graduate students are challenged to achieve excellence in their academic, personal, and professional lives, and to contribute to a more socially just society.

A private, co-educational college of liberal arts and sciences located in Adrian Mich., Adrian College is a traditional four-year residential institution offering a focused undergraduate education and traditional two year Master’s programs as well as advanced 3+2 Master’s programs. The college offers 50 majors and pre-professional programs, 44 sports teams and 10 institutes dedicated to a diverse and personalized approach to education. Adrian College features state-of-the-art facilities, small class sizes and an innovative approach to the academic and personal growth of its students.

Chartered on March 28, 1859, Adrian College traces its origins back to a Wesleyan Methodist theological institute founded at Leoni, Mich., in 1845. This institution later became Michigan Union College. Strongly antislavery in its sentiments, the school was moved to Adrian in 1859 through the efforts of the antislavery leader and educator, Rev. Asa Mahan, who was elected first president of the new Adrian College. The college was transferred to the Methodist Protestant Church in 1868, and here for 71 years, leaders of this denomination were trained. In 1939 a denominational union of American Methodism resulted in the establishment of the Methodist Church. Adrian College is affiliated with this great church body.

Adrian College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The rule books are just as important as the textbooks in defining the heart of a Bulldog. Adrian College’s athletes are about standing for something beyond the field, court or ice. Adrian College is about the kind of tradition, community and spirit that molds individuals into teams. It is a place to confront competition and defeat failure. Every individual is encouraged to rise to the challenge and strive for excellence, on the training grounds and in life.

Adrian College doesn’t just look for the best athletes — it wants leaders, student-athletes that have a tenacity to keep the Bulldogs at the top, in and out of the classroom. The college seeks talent and character — players who understand what it is to be a team, who can electrify sold out crowds, gut out a last line shift, will the team to victory, hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth and be a part of a legend in the making.

Adrian College maintains a firm commitment to an affordable private education. With competitive scholarships and personal counselors, Adrian College has created financial aid plans personalized to the needs of incoming students.

In recent years, the college has experienced momentous growth garnering national recognition. In its 2019 edition of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report ranked Adrian College as Regional Top Baccalaureate College in the Midwest. The institution has also been recognized as a “Most Innovative College,” a “Best Value College” for two consecutive years and a “Best Value” institution.
