Meet Lukas Mazurek, '23: "I had a great time at Siena Heights University. The online class structure was very accommodating with my schedule which allowed me to travel for work frequently over my time at SHU. The professors were very helpful and got back to me with any questions I had, and they provided a very wide array of resources to encourage students to learn more about their subject area’s while also allowing them to practically use the resources in assignments. We really enjoyed our time today at the Veteran’s Stand Down event in Benton Harbor, MI. It is always a pleasure to catch up with our alumni and have the opportunity to thank them for their service.

We celebrated our first class of graduates from the Rising Education Program at Cooper Street Correctional Facility in Jackson, Michigan. By getting their education, these students are doing the work to change the course of their lives and become the people they were meant to be. A huge congratulations to both the Siena graduates, and the Jackson College program graduates, and their families!

Meet President Doug Palmer! Here's a few fun facts about our 11th Siena Heights University president!
- Doug played rugby in college and the Army.
- He and his brother have 7 children between them – ALL boys!
- Doug taught Roman history, IN ROME.
- He once worked as the “cruise director” on a dining/dancing riverboat in Pittsburgh – it was a combo of being a maître d’ and emcee. His wife was a waitress on the same boat and that’s how they met.
- He used to live right next to Three Mile Island nuclear plant but he and his family moved away just one month before the accident.
- And, he once literally bumped into Michelle Pfieffer in a restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina.
