es, in-depth lectures, and excursions to the some of the city's most important economic institutions, this program allows students to develop business competencies in the Brazilian economy (one of world's largest and fastest-growing). Founded in 1870, Mackenzie Presbyterian University is one of Brazil’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Located in heart of São Paulo (in the iconic district of Consolação), Mackenzie offers students not only the ideal academic setting, but also the optimal environment to become familiar with the vibrant culture of Brazil. Mackenzie's campus is located just minutes away from the famous Avenida Paulista (the city’s financial district), and is surrounded by some of the city’s finest restaurants, clubs and cafes. REQUIREMENTS:
Our summer program is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. A 2.5 GPA minimum is required, along with the following SUNY application materials:
• One letter of reference (or the SUNY reference form)
• Official transcript
• SUNY Study statement

ACADEMICS:
The five-week summer program at Mackenzie will award six credits that may count towards a major or minor in Globalization Studies, International Business, Marketing, Communication, and Latin American, Caribbean, and US Latino Studies Class topics include "Strategies for Sustainable Business in Brazil," "International Financial Management in Brazil," and "Economic and Environmental Law in Brazil." Classes will be conducted in English- no prior knowledge of Portuguese is required. In addition to business-related courses, students will also take Portuguese language classes during the session, which are offered at the beginner and intermediate level. EXCURSIONS:
Also included in the cost of the program are various excursions to some of Brazil's most important business and financial institutions. These include: a day trip to the industrial port of Santos, a visit to the São Paulo Stock Exchange (Bovespa), and a visit to Embraer (one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers). In addition to the program in Sao Paulo, a three-day excursion to Rio de Janeiro for all participating students is included in the cost of the program. The focus of this trip will be to expose students to the current transformation that is happening in Rio as a result of the upcoming World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. Included in this trip is the cost of transportation to Rio, the cost of a private bus to travel in and around Rio, two nights in a hostel, visits to the breathtaking Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) statue, the Cantagalo favela, and more. Students will have full support from the on-campus staff at the University's international office (also known as the Coodernadoria Internacional, or simply COI). The program director at Mackenzie and associated staff will assist students with any concerns or questions they may have throughout their stay. Faculty and/or staff will accompany the students on all activities and outings and provide superb assistance to students throughout their stay. HOUSING:
Students will be housed at the Ville Hotel during their stay in Sao Paulo. Located only 10 minutes walking distance from Mackenzie, Hotel Ville offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and cable TV. The rooms of Ville Hotel are equipped with two twin beds, air conditioning, a minibar, a telephone, and a private bathroom. Single-gender roommate pairs will be assigned by the Program Coordinator at Mackenzie. Costs include for this five week program include: tuition & fees, round-trip airfare, room & board, ground transportation on program-arranged activities/excursions, the 3-day excursion to Rio, airport transportation upon arrival/departure, and on-site assistance from Mackenzie University.
