The School of Education at the University at Albany has come a long way since its inception in 1844. Established to be a leader in teacher preparation and higher education in New York State, our School has evolved into a nationally ranked and internationally renowned research institution. We continue to prepare professionals for vital roles in classrooms and school systems, providing evidence-base

d strategies for those seeking certification as teachers, principals and school district leaders via online and on campus instruction. Although primarily a graduate institution, the School offers a broad range of opportunities in undergraduate eduction, including a minor.

UAlbany School of Education Professor Wins Carnegie Fellowship to Study Political Polarization

Brett Levy, an associate professor in the University at Albany’s School of Education, has been selected to receive a 2024 Andrew Carnegie Fellowship from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to study strategies to reduce political polarization in the U.S.

Dr. Goatley has served the last 8 years as Chair of the University at Albany - SUNY - Department of Literacy Teaching and Learning, and previously as SOE Associate Dean for Professional Studies and Vice Dean. Her research has attracted competitive external funds, as well as professional awards from the Literacy Research Association, the New York Association for Colleges for Teacher Education, the New York State Reading Association, and the Journal of Educational Research.
