On Thursday, February 22 at 5:00PM EST, Dr. Marcy Sacks will present a paper at the Massachusetts Historical Society, titled "'I Shall Forward to You My Contraband': Tracing Coerced Wartime Black Movement North Through an Incomplete Archive." On Wednesday, October 4, the Albion College History Department will host the annual Coy James Memorial Lecture with Dr. Ian Shin (Assistant Professor of History and American Culture, University of Michigan). Dr. Shin will speak on "Collecting Empire: Chinese Art and U.S. Imperial Stewardship in the Early 20th Century." The event begins at 4:30PM in Bobbitt Auditorium and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you!

As we gear up for the fall semester starting this week, the Albion College History Department would like to celebrate Phillip Voglewede ('19), who will begin his PhD in History at the University of Michigan at the same time. Phillip received the university's prestigious Rackham Merit Fellowship and will continue his exploration of US environmental history in his doctoral studies. Congratulations, Phillip!
