New Mexico is one of the states leading the nation in efforts but it has not been without challenges - supply, technology issues, etc. However for some New Mexicans, the challenge goes beyond accessing the vaccine sign-up portal online. For the state's immigrant population, much of the hesitancy surrounding the vaccine comes from fears that immigration status may be questioned or their public benefits may be jeopardized.

Our Story

The Center for Social Policy (CSP) is an initiative within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Mexico that integrates the work of several existing research institutes within the College aimed at improving social policy outcomes, including the Cradle to Career Policy Institute and the Native American Budget and Policy Institute. Additionally, CSP continues to sustain the mission of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at UNM by continuing to engage in research focused on racial and ethnic inequalities across health and well-being outcomes, and health policy more broadly. Our research and administrative staff continue to work at bridging applied policy and academic research in our approach to help advance our mission to improve social policy outcomes for all at the local, state, and national level.
