CELAC students can easily transition into University studies at UNM upon successfully completing our English classes. Welcome to The Center for English Language and American Culture (CELAC) at the University of New Mexico! As the University’s intensive English program, our mission is to prepare international students and professionals with the language skills necessary to succeed in a wide variety

of academic studies or professional settings in the United States and in English speaking countries around the world. Students also learn about American culture through active involvement in the UNM campus community and from participating in fun field trips around the state of New Mexico. CELAC students can easily transition into University studies at UNM upon successfully completing our English classes and receiving a passing score on our institutional TOEFL exam. Assistance with the application process and academic advisement is always available at CELAC. We hope you will choose CELAC for your English studies and look forward to meeting you soon!

Meet Bart! 🌟 He joined CELAC in the Spring of 2010, earning his MA in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies from UNM in Fall 2011. 🎓 In 2014, he became the Education Specialist and, in Spring 2019, transitioned to Senior International Education Advisor while still rocking it in the classroom.
