Thanks to these fierce Drawing I students for such an outstanding semester! It was really great learning and collaborating with you.đŸŒčThis final drawing is so beautiful and symbolic!

For their Final Project, each of the 14 students made two 12”x12” drawings using WHITE chalk on BLACK paper, then we assembled the drawings into a single collaborative drawing. The total size of full drawing is 4’x7’. (This drawing is based on an original photo by CNM Art Studio instructor Lea Anderson)

“WHITE ROSES”
Collaborative Drawing by the Artists of Drawing I, Fall 2024

White roses symbolize many things, including: Peace and calm. Purity, innocence, and loyalty. Deep respect and admiration. Honesty, fidelity, and a spiritual connection. Eternal love and new beginnings. Commitment and undying love. Sympathy. Trust, respect, and remembrance.

“In the garden of white roses, time surrenders to the eternal. Each bloom invites contemplation. Like a silent prayer spoken to the stars, these flowers embody the essence of hope, reminding us that even in the darkest of nights, beauty persists, unfurling its petals in quiet defiance.” -Brittany Benko

So many people came to the Opening Reception for the Portfolio Development students’ STORYTELLERS show last night in the CNM Art Gallery!
It’s the main focus of our class (basically the business of being an artist) and it’s a lot of work, so it makes me (Rachel Popowcer) so happy when students experience a great reception.
Thank you to everyone who came by to support our amazing art students!

Here is this year’s group of “Pattern Paintings” by CNM WS Art Practices I students with instructor Lea Anderson. In this project, students began with a basic pattern, they sectioned it off and did a LOT of color mixing, different in each section - matching original color, mixing complementary colors, opposite values, and opposite intensity/saturation. In summary, working with a somewhat limited palette and then exploring many variations of those colors. 16”x20” acrylic on panel. This was hard work! And beautiful work.âœŒđŸœđŸ«¶đŸœđŸ€©

Rachel Popowcer’s Portfolio Development class went on a field trip today to Gallery One in Civic Plaza for the Punched Tin Gallery and Poet Laureate Exhibition, along with a tour of City Hall Public Art.
A huge thank you to Noel Begay, Associate Public Art Project Coordinator, and Mandolen Sanchez, Public Art Outreach Program Coordinator, for speaking with our students!
We had an informative discussion and the students really appreciated everything that they learned.
An excellent field trip!
