We did it!

The first-ever Giving Circle in Alma College history was an incredible success. Together, we surpassed our original goal of $25,000 and raised $56,086 for MUN.

Five team members (Seth Davis '18, Megan Isom '17, Rachel Hill '18, Amanda Nouhan '18, and Marianna Smith '17) are interning in the Delhi area in order to establish a new Model UN program with Shiv Nadar Schools! They landed early yesterday morning and began work today.

Alma College graduate and AC MUN All-Star, Maggie Peacock, is working in Sierra Leone as a project coordinator for the creation of a home for Ebola orphans with footprints missions until October. (donate here: https://www.crowdrise.com/armsaroundsierraleon )

She reports she has already survived her first bout of malaria, first motorbike accident and she has been in PPE for surgery, but on a brighter note she says "the coolest part has been getting to see what was once only an idea become real buildings and a home for real children in a matter of months."

After this incredible adventure, Maggie will be headed to Malaysia on a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, where she will be teaching English to secondary students. The Alma College MUN team wishes Maggie the best of luck in her pursuits, but most of all wishes her great health for the rest of her journey.

Summer months bring many adventures to each an everyone of us. Alma College senior, Luke Condon, is spending the summer working for an agricultural service company, where he drives a truck that sprays insecticides and pesticides helping crops grow and stay healthy. Mean while, he took the LSAT and is preparing for AC MUN's now annual trip to India helping run a Model UN conference for Presidium Schools. Alma College Model UNers are so well rounded!

Alma College Model UN is excited to announce that we will be heading back to India this upcoming October! We received a $75,000 grant from the US State Department's Embassy in New Delhi. The grant will fund approximately 20 Alma Model UN students in helping organize and direct the Presidium Model UN conference in New Delhi October 17-19!
