Thank you to Patty Macha, owner of Magnolia View Flower Garden, for taking us on a walking tour of her beautiful gardens and teaching us how to best fill the flowerboxes we built. We learned it's best to have a thriller, filler and a spiller! Another thank you to Jessica Young, owner of The Corner Market, for helping us with the beautiful flowers we used to fill the boxes.

A HUGE thank you to Powell in St. Louis for the afternoon tour of their facilities. We learned so much during our visit and definitely had our interest piqued on different ways to use STEM in our future job options.

The students spent some time exploring liquid nitrogen today.

Liquid nitrogen (LN2) is nitrogen in a liquid state at low temperature. Liquid nitrogen has a boiling point of about −196 °C (−321 °F; 77 K). It is produced industrially by fractional distillation of liquid air. It is a colorless, mobile liquid whose viscosity is about one-tenth that of acetone (i.e. roughly one-thirtieth that of water at room temperature). Liquid nitrogen is widely used as a coolant.

Mr. Ringle and Mr. Ebelt joined us yesterday to discuss the STEM dependent jobs of pilots and drone pilots. We learned that you need knowledge of meteorology, math, engineering and technology for either of these professions. And as a bonus, we got to see a drone fly and have our pictures taken. And then taken in infrared.

This afternoon we had Mr. Dan and Mr. Dave talk to us about flying drones and airplanes. Then Heidi spent a bit of time leading all the campers in a Neurographic art project. We even had a few extra minutes to hit the rec center. More pictures to come!

A shout out to Wesley Frost for teaching us how to make flower boxes today. Last week the Explorers decorated the tiles. Today we constructed the boxes. Thursday we will fill them with flowers and deliver them downtown.

Michele Ringle and Heidi Barnaby, this year's Directors for Explorers Week want to give a huge thank you shout out as we wrap up an amazing week together.

Thank you to our teachers. Your lessons were inspiring, enriching and exactly what we needed.

Thank you to our counselors. Your positive energy and guidance was exactly what our campers (and directors) were looking for.

Thank you to the Alma College employees that helped us figure out what we needed to do during our first year as directors. They didn't even get annoyed when we had to ask a couple of times!

Thank you to our campers. You came every day with enthusiasm and an open mind to take on the heat and activities. You also left the dining room cleaner than we found it which is to be commended.

Thank you to the adults that trusted us with your children each day this week. We enjoyed spending the day with them, getting to know them and see the positive effect they they had on everyone they interacted with while attending camp.

We've made it to Dow Gardens. Some of the campers thought it was a lonnnnnngggg walk to the Canopy Walk, but they all managed to survive and are having fun now. They'll sleep well tonight.

We loved our morning at Dow Diamond. We just enjoyed a picnic lunch and now are loaded up for our next adventure!

I'm not sure how it's possible to fit so much fun into one day, but somehow we've managed to do it again!!!

Tomorrow is field trip day. The forecast says we may get rain, so don't forget a raincoat or poncho if you have one.

We also hope you'll wear your new solar eclipse bleached shirt!
