Calling all playwrights! If you are an alum or current Creative Writing student at NSCC, we are looking for 10-minute plays to be included in our new summer theater camp, Summer Stage. Would you like to see your play revised, produced, directed, and performed by camp participants this July? Would you like to be a student ambassador to assist campers in any of the areas of production: writing, performance, set/costume design, and directing? Submit your 10-minute play as a Word attachment along with a brief email expressing your level of interest in participating in Summer Stage (you may still submit your play if you are unable to attend as a student ambassador, just please say so in your email). Send submissions via a separate email to [email protected] by April 25, 2019. Summer Stage will take place on the NSCC campus July 23, 24, and 25 from 9:00-3:00. We look forward to reading your submissions!

It’s the height of Prohibition in 1920s Chicago, and there’s a mob war brewing between the South Side Gangsters and the Northern Chicago Mob Outfit. The two ruthless crime leaders Hal Sapone and Beanie O’Dannon have finally reached an agreement on bootlegging practices in Chicago and have decided to pull together resources to undergo a collaborative effort with criminal endeavors. On the surface, this strategy seems similar to bailing out a sinking ship with tin cups, nevertheless. Recently, gangsters from the north and south have been spotted together at various speakeasies throughout Chicago, but the tension in the air is always thick enough to be cut with a knife. However, this newfound relationship between the opposing mob bosses has served, thus far, to inhibit gratuitous bloodshed as in the past. Part of the success of this truce is that both crime bosses have found new dames, thereby intertwining more mutual relationships between the two factions. The two gangs have set an official date to meet at Hal Sapone’s Grand Gatsby Speakeasy to resolve all remaining differences. Will these two underground organizations resolve their disputes or will a massive melee erupt, rekindling the fatal flames between them? This is where your story begins.... Spotlight is proud to host a Murder Mystery Party on Thursday February 28th at 7pm!

This is a 1920's themed Murder Mystery Party Game! The mystery unfolds beginning at 7pm. Costumes/1920's style attire is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED!

If you would like to RSVP to this event to be assigned a Character in the game, please e-mail Kelly! If you don't want to be a character or "play" for the evening, you are still welcome to join the fun of our 1920's Speakeasy party and join in trying to figure out "who dunnit!"

Just a reminder to e-mail [email protected] if you are interested in going to see The Glass Menagerie. If you want to attend, please RSVP no later than February 15th. You do not have to pay your $10 by then, we just need to know if you want to go so I can order you a ticket!

On March 8th we will depart from campus promptly at 4PM that Friday afternoon. It is recommend that you bring another $10-$12 cash with you to cover the cost of you dinner. There are some really great (low cost) places to eat near the theater. The show starts at 7:30PM, and we will be back to Northwest State campus around 10:30pm that evening.
