Auburn University,

The greatest impacts of Hurricane Helene are expected during the overnight hours on Thursday, Sept. 26 and into early Friday, Sept. 27. As such, the Auburn University campus will close at 5 p.m. tomorrow and all classes and events are canceled for Thursday evening. At this time, the University plans to reopen on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:45 a.m., notwithstanding major impacts to Auburn’s campus.

Safety is our priority as our Emergency Management Team continues to closely monitor the weather and evaluate plans in conjunction with the National Weather Service, public safety partners, and departments across campus. Any additional changes to normal university operations will be communicated via AU ALERT. Please make sure your contact information is updated now via the link in AU Access.

Auburn Community,

At approximately 11:55am today, an alarm was initiated on a fire alarm panel in The Edge Dining Facility, falsely stating that there was a report of shots fired on campus. There was no actual emergency. Auburn University is troubleshooting to determine what caused the false activation.

The planned test of the AU ALERT system this afternoon will be rescheduled on another date.

Our sirens on campus sounded briefly this morning. There is NO EMERGENCY on campus and we apologize for any confusion. We are troubleshooting the situation.
