Hey Berkeley admits and prospective students! My name is Gave and I am a fourth year majoring in Media Studies & Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies.

I work at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Affairs Communications where I create social media content about what it's like to attend UC Berkeley. I am also involved with the Pilipinx community here on campus, where I am involved in the (Pilipinx Academic Student Services) and serve as one of the Executive Directors.

📍 Where exactly is Berkeley? While location may or may not be an important factor for you when it comes to choosing a university, here are some quick deets about our city:

🌇 East of San Francisco and north of Oakland, the city of Berkeley is nestled between the San Francisco Bay and the forested Berkeley Hills. It's close to countless hiking trails and nature preserves, while also being a short drive from Silicon Valley, where many Berkeley alumni work. Connected to diverse East Bay neighborhoods by BART (short for Bay Area Rapid Transit,) Berkeley students have the opportunity to explore and engage with the communities that make the Bay Area what it is.

⛅ What's the weather like? The Bay Area’s waters moderate Berkeley’s climate year round: cooling in summer and insulating from snow in winter. Changes in sunshine, wind, fog, and temperature happen daily, thanks to the phenomenon known as microclimates!

🔭 Berkeley students have no trouble finding places to enjoy an epic sunset. An easy option is the Lawrence Hall of Science, which provides breathtaking views of the Bay Area.

Morrison Library has everything you could want in a cozy reading space. 📚😌

Opened in 1928 as a traditional reading room providing a tranquil atmosphere, the space is intended for students looking for a quiet, laptop-free environment. Morrison Library offers comfortable seating for leisurely reading, and maintains a circulating collection of newly published popular fiction and nonfiction.

Just a reminder 👉 The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be offline tomorrow, February 17, 2025, in observance of President’s Day.

Our in-person services will resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
