The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga hosted a three-day Quantum Technology Conference featuring over 20 speakers from institutions and companies like Harvard, TVA, IonQ and more.

Richard Winham didn’t ask for a big sendoff, but Chattanooga gave him one anyway.

Local artists, WUTC listeners and generations of students packed the Barrelhouse Ballroom to celebrate his legacy.

The City of Chattanooga even made it official: June 22 is now Richard Winham Day.

Celebrating 50 Years of UTC I-O Psychology!

Since 1975, UTC’s I-O Psychology program has grown into one of the top master’s-level programs in the country. Alumni are now leading in fields like healthcare, tech, and energy. Building careers shaped by hands-on experience and faculty who challenged them.

With a growing national reputation and one of the most selective master’s-level I-O tracks in the country, UTC continues to set the standard.

8 pounds of personality and 16 helmet prototypes later...

Wrexham the Chihuahua has a custom 3D-printed helmet designed by UTC mechanical engineering graduate Connor Mackey (’24).

What started as a student-led solution became a yearlong project built on compassion, creativity, and a whole lot of trial and error.

Emma Sprayberry (’24) has been selected for the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Program, the first UTC student or alum to receive this prestigious honor!

She’s currently completing a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Taiwan and will begin graduate studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS in Italy and Washington, D.C.

Emma’s path has included study abroad in five countries, numerous national awards, and strong mentorship from UTC’s Office of National Scholarships.

“It’s not about being perfect. It’s about what you do next.”

For Evan Scannapiego (’25), junior year brought unexpected challenges. Academic setbacks, mental burnout and big decisions.

But with guidance from advisors, support from peers and a pivotal major change, he rebuilt momentum and graduated with a degree in Mechatronics Engineering and a full-time role in industrial automation.
