🌿Day 6: There are many ways people are discovering to reduce plastic packaging, here are some popular choices from Plastic Free July participants:

💚 Choosing cardboard, tin, and glass — These alternatives to plastic are often easier to recycle or reuse around the home.
💚 Buying loose produce — Many people are bringing their own reusable produce bags, or simply buy items like apples, zucchini, or potatoes without any packaging - market stalls and green grocers are often good places to try.
💚 Bakery goods — Some households are bringing their own cloth bags or re-using paper bags to avoid plastic when buying bread and pastries.

Even when plastic free options aren't always available, many people find that asking in-store or starting conversations helps signal demand for change.
Let’s keep exploring new ways to reduce plastic waste this July—one choice at a time. 💚

Wildfires are not just an environmental issue—they're a maternal health crisis.

A recent study—co-authored by PRCCEH member Scott Lorch—shows that pregnant women in areas with frequent wildfire smoke exposure have limited access to perinatal care, including fewer OB-GYNs and longer distances to hospitals.

As weather patterns continue to change and wildfires intensify, it’s crucial to ensure all expectant mothers receive the care they need, wherever they live.
