The OSU Sustainability Office is the primary support organization for sustainability efforts at OSU. The Oregon State University Sustainability Office is housed in Campus Operations, part of the Finance and Administration division. The office was formed by the creation of a full time sustainability coordinator position in November 2005. Shortly thereafter, another full-time staff position was created to focus on energy conservation efforts. Functional Areas include: Networking and Communications, Infrastructure and Administration, and Student Engagement and Academic Support. Energy efficiency and renewable energy projects are a major elements to our work, but our activities also expand into areas of political engagement, event planning, and projects related to personal behavior and energy use. Our office collaborates with departments across campus including, but not limited to Campus Recycling, ASOSU, and the Student Sustainability Initiative.
Our awards include:
-OSU was named EPA Green Power Pac-10 Conference Champion in 2010-11 for purchasing 51,595,400 kilowatts of green power.
-OSU is one of only nine colleges and universities in the US to attain a Gold rating in STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System. It was the first school in Oregon to submit its report in January 31st, 2011. For more information on STARS go to http://oregonstate.edu/sustainability/stars.
