Democratizing Computer Science
Thanks to National Science Foundation (NSF) support, CS for Oregon is helping to fund Oregon high schools interested in adopting a national, equity-based, evidence-supported curriculum called Exploring Computer Science. ECS focuses on developing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students that is rigorous and engaging. Contact Jill Hubbard at [email protected] if your school district is interested in becoming a partner.

The beautiful music of robotics and AI
How do you combine ethics, policy, and practicality into the design of revolutionary robotics and artificial intelligence systems? Researchers Kagan Tumer and Tom Dietterich are collaborating to find out as they help lead the Oregon State Collaborative Robotics and Intelligent Systems Institute. https://beav.es/Za9
Celebrating Gabor Temes on his 90th birthday
We celebrate the 60-year career of Gabor Temes on his 90th birthday. He has been at Oregon State University since 1990 and served as head of what is now the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science until 1994. A dedicated mentor, he has advised more than 100 graduate students, and counting.
He received the nation’s highest professional distinction for engineers in 2015, when he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. His work in analog circuits has improved technologies like cellphones and medical devices, and the students he has mentored over the years have multiplied the impact of his work.

College of Engineering - Oregon State University
Alumnus Farhad Farahbakshian
Farhad Farahbakshian ('09 M.S., Electrical Engineering) is the co-founder of Naked Labs, which has developed the world's first #3D body scanner designed to help people accurately track health and #fitness metrics.
EECS Alum Richard Przyblya
Richard Przyblya ('08 HBS, Electrical Engineering) is the co-founder and systems architect at Chirp Microsystems. Chirp was acquired by TDK in 2018. The company was based on technology Richard developed for his doctoral research at University of California, Berkeley.
Nick McComb - Student DMs
Nick McComb ('19 B.S., Electrical and Computer Engineering) dove into the Oregon State University Robotics Club as president, treasurer, and the Mars rover team lead.
Another Day in the College of Engineering: Shredding
The Engineering Expo showcases senior design projects for all engineering students. It is held every year in May at Oregon State University. Industry partners, alumni, the media, prospective students, peers, representatives of other academic institutions and the general public have the opportunity to interact directly with students, ask questions and exchange ideas. 🎸
Cozmos in the Classroom
A team of undergraduates at Oregon State created a program to teach computer science concepts in K-12 schools using tiny robots.
Oregon State Alumnus Taj Morton
Taj Morton ('14, M.S., Computer Science) received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science at Oregon State. He landed a software engineering job with Reliable Robotics Corp. where he is part of a team that is designing an autonomous airplane system.
