Mohammed Al Omar is an undergraduate student in the College of Liberal Arts - Oregon State University majoring in Marine Studies. He is also the Vice President of the OSU Ocean11 Marine Club. Originally from Saudi Arabia, Mohammed applied for a scholarship from the Saudi Arabian government to study marine sciences and eventually made his way to the OSU Marine Studies program.

The sea is an incredible source of inspiration, and there are many ways to learn from it.
One of those ways is through literature and writings that share various perspectives representing coastal and marine life. From poetry and short stories to philosophy and creative nonfiction, students enrolled in ENG 340, Literatures of the Coast, will be able to explore the diverse means of how literature is tied to the sea this Winter term.
