Today is National Trails Day! It is a blessing to live in a state that feels like a huge park, an endless forest where taking trails is not an obligation, but rather a national sport!
Many of our students took unknown paths while abroad and couldn't but share the beauty of what they have experienced and impromptu creatures they have enjoyed meeting!
Take a glimpse at beauty beyond the Pacific and let us know what you think!

Have you been somewhere else, taken a trail and been in awe? You can share your pics with us!

From a past student: "100% go for it. I think everyone should have an international experience at least once in their life, simply to expand your worldview. Even when I have experienced challenging situations, feelings of regret, or tiredness, I always look back on my time abroad and am so grateful for the experiences I have there. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and experiencing new places, people, food, and activities will make you a stronger and more confident person. You will do and see things you never thought you would the world will start to seem bigger and smaller at the same time. With that being said, have realistic expectations. Not everything is going to go as planned and learning to be adaptable and having a "go with the flow," attitude will serve you well. Know that there will be times when you're bored, frustrated, and confused and be okay being uncomfortable. Embrace those feelings and learn to navigate through them. Learning to work through that discomfort is probably one of the most useful lessons and pieces of advice I can give for travelling internationally. You will come out better equipped at dealing with life for it. " College of Forestry at Oregon State University

Happy Earth Day from CoF International Programs!!

In our student programs near and far, we are constantly thinking of reciprocity. How can we give back to the earth for the wonderful experiences that we have on it?

Everything on this earth is connected especially our forests and ecosystems. One of the ways that we respect this connection is our tree planting activity during the faculty-led program in Borneo, Malaysia.

📃✔Looking to sharpen up your resume? Here are some tips and tricks to get you started!

-- Upload your resume to Vmock, a free online tool designed to provide targeted guidance and enhance your resume for employers.

-- Make edits and tailor each resume to the specific internship you are applying for, highlighting the skills that are most relevant for that organization. Remember, hiring managers take an average of 6 seconds to look at each resume, so make it count!

-- Make sure it is no longer than 2 pages, this is the standard for most international organizations.

-- Include coursework! Show your educational experiences through relevant classes and labs.

Women's Day shouldn't be one day a year, it should be EVERY day!
Kudos to all the women who shaped and are shaping the World.
Here are some women to celebrate from our international programs destinations

Photos:
1- Power of Mama: Borneo's first women ranger teams
2- Mary Sutherland: the first woman in the UK to complete a BSc in Forestry, and the first forestry assistant in New Zealand in 1923 and only such female staff member.
3- Lacey Rose and Jess Kaknevicius: Joked about starting a club for women in wood, to say they are a minority. They launched Women In Wood (WIW) in 2015 as a networking group for women “who work in, with and for the woods.” The Facebook group has grown to almost 1,000 women across Canada, the United States and beyond, and WIW has organized and attended numerous forestry networking events.
4- Adriana Hoffmann: a botanist who roamed Chile deciphering its flora and who as a scientist, activist, author and policymaker tirelessly sought to protect her country’s vast forests from big-business exploitation
5- Maddalena Senter: young president of Ausf Italia, offers a glimpse into the future. When asked what is missing to achieve a more complete recognition of the role of women in the forestry sector, Senter has no doubts: “We are a forestry country: all we need is a greater awareness of this to achieve a greater appreciation of professional figures – and the role of women – in this field too.
