The Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships, first awarded in 1998, are open to women enrolled in at least the second year of an undergraduate program through the final year of a Master’s program in business, leading to a business management career. The program is designed to encourage women to enter careers and to seek leadership positions in business-related fields in their communities and throughout the world. The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships look to the women of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.
The Zonta Club of Corvallis offers a $3,000 scholarship. Zonta International offers scholarships of US$1,000 each at the district/region level and 12 international scholarships in the amount of US$7,000 each.

Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Jane M. Responsibilities & Requirements:
This position will be responsible for supporting strategic communications including external communication, media relations, social media and brand awareness activities for the company.
As a key member of the Strategic Communications team, the strategic communications coordinator will manage and execute traditional public relations activities including measurement and reporting activities.
This position will also support a wide range of public relations and social media channels by writing engaging content and analyzing the overall effectiveness of the company’s outreach efforts.
Skills and abilities needed for success:
• Excellent writing skills, including experience in writing news releases, fact sheets, articles, external communications, and social media content, editing and research skills required
• Solid knowledge of public relations functions, including earned media, social media and measurement systems
• Strategic yet creative thinker, self-starter, cool under pressure
• Possesses strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to quickly produce results under tight deadlines

Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above:
Strategic Communications Coordinator would have a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or related field and 1 to 3 years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General Functions and Outcomes:
• Write and edit blog posts, social media posts, press releases, award submissions, external communications, and other special writing projects
• Prepare and manage communications calendar in coordination with community investment and marketing teams to ensure events, sponsorships and campaigns are supported at the appropriate level
• Research and monitor media coverage and industry trends; create media lists to support campaigns
• Support social media channels (including developing content, posting and reporting)
• Serve as department contact for public relations vendors and news distribution services
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop strategies and communication collateral

We are pleased to announce the first campus-wide startup competition at Oregon State University called Oregon's Next Great Startup.

What: Oregon's Next Great Startup is a six-week competition where participants have the opportunity to work on their startup coached by venture capitalists. Teams will be required to submit short deliverables at regular intervals throughout the competition. Teams are eliminated based on the deliverables and a short pitch until the finale where teams pitch their startup to our panel of judges.

Prizes: First place will receive at least $5,000, prizes may be available for second, third and fourth place finishers. In addition, there is small cash disbursements as each team is successful moving to the next stage. The cash will help cover customer development, prototyping and overhead costs. Total prizes as of today are valued at over $25,000.00

Who: The competition is open to all students that are in good academic standing with the university.

When: Starts January 2017 and applications are open.

We have kicked off the 2017 Kohl's Invitational Case Competition planning committee, and I wanted to share some changes that will be made to this year's event. Save the Date: April 4th-5th 2017

Application & Selection Process
• This year, we are opening up the application process to any university team across the county. Students (Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors) are eligible to apply as a team of 4. There is no limit to the amount of teams applying from each university.
• Applications open Monday, October 31st are due Friday, December 2nd.The application will be up on the site soon. If you have students that are interested and want to receive more information please encourage them to visit the website and follow the Apply for 2017 tab to sign up for more information.
• Previous Kohl's Interns and upcoming Kohl's Interns are eligible to apply for the competition.
• Based on the application, the Kohl's Invitational committee will select 25 teams to compete in a semi-final round. These 25 teams will receive the case and be asked to submit a video presenting their idea.
• Kohl's Associates from cross-functional departments will score the 25 video submissions and narrow it down to 12 teams, who will be invited to the final round at Kohl's Corporate. At that point, these teams will receive the case and be asked to develop a business plan and presentation similar to last year.
• The 12 Teams invited to Milwaukee will then select a Faculty Advisory to travel with them for the finals. The final round will be structured the same as last year. There will be a preliminary round, which will lead to 3 final presentations to determine a winner.
