KBREC 2025 Grain Field Day – A Great Success! 🙌

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 KBREC Grain Field Day! The event was a tremendous success, and we truly appreciate your interest and participation.

It was a pleasure to showcase our ongoing research in grain production, including field trials led by Dr. Everald McLennon as well as updates on wheat and barley varieties. Special thanks to Dr. Ryan Graebner and Dr. Margaret Krause for their informative and engaging presentations.

We’re especially grateful for the questions, feedback, and conversations throughout the day. Your input will help guide our research and outreach priorities, and we’re committed to using it to better serve the needs of you—the farmers and agricultural community we work alongside.

We would also like to extend an open invitation to visit the farm and see the spring wheat trial at your convenience. If you're interested, just let us know, we would be happy to host you.

Thank you again for your support and engagement. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

In Oregon it's season, and while the flames are particularly destructive, the wildfire smoke can also adversely affect many crops, including vineyards.

At OSU, we're tackling this problem by studying the impact of smoke exposure on grapes, with hopes of finding ways to prevent or lessen the impact of "smoke taint."

OSU researchers confirm that h**p-fed cows, if weaned properly, produce THC-free milk & meat. 🐄

The researchers hope that this will allow for spent h**p biomass, which currently has little value, to be used as feed for livestock in the future.

Meet Kailei Ouellette, a graduate who was selected for the 2024 Art About Agriculture Competition and Touring Exhibition!

She loves to tell stories using art, and she combined that with her experience of growing up on a farm and then studying Animal Science at OSU, to tell the stories of agriculture.

Her piece “Pinecone Pickers” was selected for the tour, and it gives viewers an insight into how pinecones are harvested.
