With an increasingly competitive job market, the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University is dedicated to providing opportunities for students to set themselves apart from their peers. Partners in the agriculture industry have indicated CAS students leave OSU with remarkable technical skills but in many cases need some additional development in the soft skills also critical for

career success. The College of Agricultural Sciences responded by creating the Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy is a one-year program open to all undergraduates in the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry. Selected students evaluate their leadership strengths and areas for growth and set goals for long- and short-term leadership development. Working closely with a faculty mentor, students identify on- and off-campus activities, professional development workshops, and organizations that will help them take steps toward reaching their leadership development goals. Students also seek out academic coursework that will enhance their growth and complement the requirements of their chosen degrees.

Last week in seminar, we had the pleasure of hearing Betsy Hartley, Development Officer of Oregon FFA Foundation speak. She shared her thoughts on motivation, fortitude, and getting outside our comfort zones. She had the students laughing distinguishing between introverts and extroverts, and she put them to work in their table groups.

In the Academy, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. And we have the opportunity to work with people like Betsy and others who share that value.

Today's the Day! ....AND we're soooooo close! - https://mailchi.mp/749c79f99250/dam-proud-day-early-bird-challenge-for-leadership-academy-13662097 Philanthropy from donors like you helped Le'Waski stay in the Academy and at OSU.

There are more students to help. Help us meet our goal of $15,000 before the end of the year to endow a scholarship, ensuring support for these students year after year. Because students shouldn't have to forego leadership education because of inability to pay.
