Why study the entire Bible?

At DIU, we’re passionate about Scripture—not just parts of it, but the whole story from Genesis to Revelation. Understanding the full arc of the Bible gives clarity, depth, and direction to your spiritual, personal, and professional life.

That’s why courses like IS1309 Foundations of Scripture are a core part of our BA program. Students explore the Bible as a unified narrative with at least nine meaningful connections between the Old and New Testaments:

-God’s presence spans the beginning and the end
-The Bible is grounded in real, shared history
-The Old Testament foreshadows the New
-Prophecies bridge the testaments through fulfillment
-Jesus is the center point of the entire Bible
-Biblical ethics stay consistent, though contexts change
-God’s rescue mission for all nations starts in Genesis and culminates in Revelation
-Covenants shape the Bible’s structure—from Noah to the Church
-The Holy Spirit inspired both testaments, giving unified authorship

The Bible is not just a book of stories—it is one story. And when you study it as such, you begin to see more of who God is—and how your story fits into His.

Let us remember the cross.

Around this hour thousands of years ago, Jesus laid down His life so that every nation, tribe, and tongue might be saved from their sin and know the love of God. Because of the cross, we live with purpose as we prepare students for meaningful careers rooted in Scripture, culture, language, and the arts. Let us remember Jesus's sacrifice and what our redemption cost as we prepare our hearts for Easter Sunday.

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities... and by his wounds we are healed." — Isaiah 53:5

Theater as a Catalyst for Change

DIU alumnus Daniel Kliemt partnered with the Sangu people of Tanzania to produce Yusufu: The Musical—a powerful stage adaptation of the story of Joseph that brings important social themes to life.

This three-hour production, featuring traditional Sangu music and dance, explores family struggles, perseverance, and reconciliation, encouraging the community to reflect on and address key social issues. The play has also strengthened local connections, contributed to a revival of the Sangu language in public spaces, and sparked deeper discussions about faith and life.

For years, Les and Kathy Bruce poured their hearts into Biblical Byways—faithfully leading immersive study tours that brought Scripture to life in lands like Israel, Turkey, and Greece. Through their dedication, countless travelers have walked the paths of the Bible with deeper understanding and renewed faith.

In 2024, they entrusted this cherished work to Dallas International University, believing that DIU could carry the vision forward by forming a new department—DIU Biblical Byways—to steward this legacy and expand its reach.

We're thrilled to announce our next tour in Fall 2025: an unforgettable journey through Turkey, with the option to extend into Greece. The instructor for this tour will be Dr. Joshua Harper, a DIU professor with a PhD from Cambridge and a passion for biblical languages, history, and the cultures that shaped the world of Scripture. Directing DIU Biblical Byways is Aaron Lockhart, who joined the Bruces on their final Israel trip in 2024. A DIU professor and biblical scholar, Aaron brings a heart for spiritual formation, academic depth, and carrying this mission into the future.

Ready to experience the lands of the Bible for yourself? Or know someone who loves to travel or would love to bring a group along for this experience?

His leadership shaped DIU, but his kindness shaped lives. As President Dr. Scott Berthiaume said: “We are better people because you have called us your friends.”

🔹 Want to lead globally and partner locally? 🔹

If so, you'll often work with people different from you. That's a great thing, but also has many challenges and opportunities for growth. Whether in your workplace, classroom, or church, here are 5 tips for working with people different than you:

Be Open to New Ideas – Cultural differences often present alternative ways of thinking, not just opposing viewpoints. A willingness to listen fosters collaboration.

Know Yourself – Understanding your own background and beliefs equips you to appreciate those of others.

Be a Learner – Observe, ask thoughtful questions, and study cultural contexts to build meaningful connections.

Show Respect – Even in disagreement, maintaining respect builds trust and strengthens relationships.

Recognize the Value of Diversity – Different perspectives enrich discussions and lead to innovative solutions.

At Dallas International University, we equip students to engage in meaningful work in diverse cultural and international settings. Undergraduates can major in Community Engagement or Global Affairs, while graduate students can study Human Migration, Language & Culture Studies, and World Arts. We even have three General Education courses in cross-cultural studies available to Dual Enrollment students.
