We provide innovative professional learning pathways for certified educators who have already answered the call to become teachers and prospective educators seeking certification. The Board of Directors guides this effort. 📖

As the school year ends, hundreds of educators gathered in Columbia on Wednesday for a full day of learning! ⭐️ The Center of Excellence for Educator Preparation and Innovation at Voorhees University (EPI Center) hosted its 3rd Annual Professional Development Conference at the DoubleTree by Hilton
Conference Center. This year’s theme was Evidence of Excellence in K-12: Educators Leading the Way. More than 200 educators participated in the conference! 📖

Dr. Thomas Maridada, II, President of the Center for Strategic Leadership and Organizational Coherence in Cambridge, Massachusetts delivered the keynote address. Dr. Maridada reflected on the struggles and triumphs of two Black female educators, Voorhees University founder Elizabeth Evelyn Wright and renowned Chicago-based educator Marva Collins.

Moderated by communications executive and media personality, Cynthia Pryor Hardy, the Superintendent’s Luncheon Symposium featured Fairfield County School District Superintendent Dr. J.R. Green and Georgetown County School District Superintendent, Keith Price. 📚✍🏾

The Chicago SEED team, in collaboration with their national partners, is working together with YCCS (Youth Connection Charter School) to design and build capacity across 17 campuses in Chicago to ensure that each participating educator is successful in the classroom. 📖📍

Together they are replicating some of the work of renowned educator Marva Collins, who founded a school in Chicago to inspire success in students.🌟

One of several priorities is to increase educator efficacy and attract educators to this rewarding field of education including those with diverse or nontraditional backgrounds to obtain alternative certification and licensure to teach. 📚👩🏾‍🏫

McAlhany is a first-grade teacher at Bethune-Bowman Elementary School.
