Kimberly Montesflores Gonzalez already had a strong relationship with George Mason University before she enrolled as a freshman this fall.

The computer science major received an Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship, which comes with $40,000 and an Amazon internship, which will start next summer. She also received one of Mason’s University Scholars awards, a full tuition scholarship given to select students from the Honors College.

After serving in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, Kennedy went on to earn his PhD in Information Technology at George Mason University. 🌎The Environment and Sustainability Learning Community is a year-long residential experience on George Mason University's Fairfax Campus hosted by the College of Science at George Mason University!

♻️You’ll learn how to make Mason more sustainable while also improving your day-to-day sustainability, all while living with like-minded folks in the Eastern Shore Residence Hall!

✔️All majors, minors, and areas of study are invited to join the Environment and Sustainability Learning Community. Bring your passion and curiosity - no prior knowledge or experience is required!

✔️The Environment and Sustainability Learning Community experience is open to all multi-year (non-Freshman) undergraduate students who plan to live on campus.

George Mason University is accelerating action in response to the by developing a new Climate Action Plan (CAP)!

🌎 The CAP development is an initiative led by a partnership between Mason Facilities and the Mason Sustainability Council’s Carbon Neutrality Task Force.

🌎 The Task Force is working closely with Dumont Janks, who worked with Mason on the most recent Master Plan, and Arup, a global technical advisory firm, to develop a new CAP.

✔️ The new CAP will be delivered to President Gregory Washington prior to Mason’s 50th Anniversary in April 2022.

📣 Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are invited to join this initial town hall to share their climate action thoughts, ask questions, and learn more about the CAP process.
