The Folklore Program at George Mason University is distinctive due to the experiential learning opportunities it offers its graduate and undergraduate students in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
This Summer, students worked at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, interned at President Lincolnβs Cottage, participated in a field school in conjunction with the National Park Service, and contributed to the Coalition to Save Thoroughfareβs efforts to stop the desecration of Indigenous and Black cemeteries in Virginia.
Folklore BAM and incoming masterβs student Ang Dinardo also joined a team of interns who interviewed residents of the Petworth neighborhood in Washington, D.C., to strengthen President Lincolnβs Cottage community engagement with its neighbors.
