We are so proud to spotlight recent Visual Voices artist Kei Ito, an installation artist and immigrant, navigating themes entrenched in trauma and inheritance within the context of his identity and heritage. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in the profound legacy passed down from his late grandfather, Takeshi Ito, a resilient survivor of the harrowing atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

Takeshi Ito was part of the formation of the Japanese organization, Nihon Hidankyo, a movement of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2024 for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again.

Happy ! Today, we're spotlighting Mason's LGBTQ Resources Center and their educational and enrichment opportunities for the campus community. 🏳️‍🌈💚💛

During this year's LGBTQ+ Faculty Fellow Symposium, Film at Mason professor Lisa Thrasher presented her work in highlighting marginalized voices. Professor Thrasher showed a collection of select clips from her films, all of which centered LGBTQ+ stories, voices, writers, and directors.

Mason's LGBTQ+ Resource Center seeks to grant faculty who are doing relevant research a platform to share their work, discussing student opportunities for civic engagement, and deepening our knowledge of LGBTQ+ history. This transition is one that the center is bringing into their year-round connection to the academic mission of the university.

That dedication to a welcoming and supportive campus climate is what keeps Mason at the top of the Campus Pride Index and the Athlete Ally’s Athletic Equality Index. The university has maintained perfect scores on both indexes for multiple years.
