The SVRC at the University of Michigan-Flint is a space for student veterans to access resources, enjoy the company of other student veterans, hold meetings, and study. Our philosophy is one of respect, appreciation, inclusiveness, and recognition that veterans have concerns and experiences that differ from those of typical college student. The Student Veterans Resource Center, located in 131 Univ

ersity Pavilion, provides services for service members and veterans, as well as their spouses and dependents. Our staff is available to assist with academic, financial, and transition support services, including information regarding use of VA Educational Benefits. We have a wide network both on and off campus for referrals to a wide variety of services and programs. The lounge area is home to three computer stations and printer, and space to study and socialize while on campus. Services include:
• Assistance with the admission application process
• Review of military transfer credit recommendations
• Information about using financial aid
• Assistance using VA Educational Benefits or Tuition Assistance programs
• Scholarship opportunities
• Support to student veterans organizations and community involvement

Hope you are ready for some country! We have some exciting news. American country music singer and songwriter Stephen Cochran will be at the Resource Rally! Stephen is a combat Marine and has accomplished a lot in his career. Aside from touring (with music not the military anymore) he is actively involved in helping veterans and active duty. One of these ways was by partnering with the VA to produce a music video for veterans seeking help. So when you see him, say Hi! And make sure to get a picture, who knows maybe he'll play a few songs! Thank you for your service Stephen! We are excited and honored and can't wait to show you how Genesee County supports our veterans!

ATTENTION VETERANS: If you’re a G.I. Bill beneficiary who also receives other benefits, you need to ensure you have a single bank account selected for direct deposit by April 20. VA needs all students to consolidate their payments into one direct deposit account to help protect from fraud and to ensure VA pays veterans on time, every time, without error. Service members, are you thinking about transferring your education benefits to a family member so they can achieve their education goals? Don’t wait, transfer your benefits before you separate!

Here’s the scoop: after you request a Transfer of Entitlement (TOE) through milConnect, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) (DoD) will determine eligibility. If approved, your family member may then apply on VA.gov for their Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
