Once there were ten courageous women who decided to band together to become a one of the largest fraternities among us women. In 1872, these women formed Alpha Phi at Syracuse University. It has grown to over 158 chapter internationally, with over 200,000 members. Here at Kettering, Alpha Phi has the Iota Epsilon chapter, founded on September 24, 2000. Our Alpha Phi sisters, as well as the ones ar

ound the world, are leaders, scholars, contributors, and lifetime members of a sisterhood that values these traits. They encourage and assist women in making informed choices to reach their highest potential.

This week’s spotlight features Olivia Buckner, who is currently co-oping at General Motors in Flint Engine Operations. This term, she’s gaining hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, assembly line work, and component automation.

Olivia shares, “I love the change of job each term because it gives me so many different experiences. Last term, I worked in a chemical lab focusing on research and production—now I’m in a plant, getting a whole new perspective!”

This week’s spotlight features Gabrielle Miller, who is currently co-oping at Ford Motor Company. She works on Vehicle Dynamics for Full Size Pickups, SUVs, and Commercial Trucks. Gabrielle loves her experience at Ford, sharing:

“My team makes me feel like a vital part of the group—I don’t feel like an intern, but like a true engineer making decisions that impact the company. Ford is also deeply involved in the Kettering co-op program, constantly looking for ways to improve the experience. I’m grateful for a team that supports me and gives me the space to grow.”
