FAFSA information:
As they work through the soft launch of the FAFSA form they are taking down the system periodically to make updates and corrections to the FAFSA site. This announcement was put out today.
IRS Systems Outage Jan. 6
You won’t be able to transfer your federal tax information from the IRS into your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form or Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) Plan Request on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, from 6 a.m. to noon Eastern time.
We recommend that you wait until the outage is over before completing the 2024–25 FAFSA form. IMPORTANT: If a required contributor doesn't provide consent and approval to have their federal tax information transferred into your 2024–25 FAFSA form, you won’t be eligible for federal student aid—even if they manually enter tax information into the FAFSA form.
You can still complete and submit a 2023–24 FAFSA form by entering the necessary tax return information manually.
If you are a student loan borrower completing an IDR Plan Request during the outage, you’ll need to provide alternative documentation of income.
