We were saddened to learn yesterday of the passing of Mary Heimbruch.

Many of our music department alumni will remember Mary as the long time accompanist for the Iowa Central concert choir, assisting students with their solo, recital and jury pieces, and so much more.

Please take the opportunity to listen to the beautiful music she provided.

Our best goes out to all of Mary's family during this time.

A great day for our percussion ensemble members yesterday!

The opportunities to make music and share with some of our area youth, followed by a team meal and UNI Percussion concert, including seeing one of our alumni members in action with their percussion ensemble and samba ensemble.

As someone recently shared, the point of the trip wasn't the destination. It was about going somewhere new TOGETHER.

I JUST WANNA BANG ON MY DRUM ALL DAY!

The Iowa Central percussion studio houses an inventory of equipment that would make many colleges and universities jealous. From Yamaha drumline battery, to Yamaha 4.3 and 5.0 octave marimbas, a bass marimba, vibraphones, multiple Yamaha drumsets outfitted for jazz band and pep band, Roland and Pearl electronics and so much more. We are a Vic Firth educational program, so the Perfect Pair is always in your hands!

More importantly, we have the ensembles and experiences that percussionists desire! From the Legion of Boom drumline, to concert band, jazz band, percussion ensemble and more! At Iowa Central, you can be a part whether working on a 2-year degree to transfer, or a trade program getting ready for work. If you love playing drums in high school, be sure to visit with us about the opportunities here that may not be available to you at other schools.

Now that our BHM Concert is over, it time to start our new adventure.. "It Is Finished" written for choir, chamber orchestra, multitrack and narration. This project will feature the Triton Singers, my colleague and friend Teresa Jackson and chamber ensemble from local musicians. Can't wait to share this project with our community. This will be premiered on March 29 on our facebook/youtube page. Stay tuned!

Nearly 50 bands will converge on Fort Dodge next week as Iowa Central Community College hosts the 11th annual Triton Jazz Festival over the course of three days. It's concert time!

It's time to celebrate the season with our "Sounds of the Season" concert series this week! Holiday spirit will fill the Bioscience Auditorium with our instrumental concert on Friday (12/8) and vocal concert on Saturday (12/9) - showtime is 7:00 PM with holiday treats from 5:30-6:30 PM both nights! We've also added a special matinee performance (vocal only) on Wednesday (12/6) at 2:00 PM!
