Composer Jim Stephenson visited TCU in preparation for the world premiere of his Fifth Symphony, which will be performed by the TCU Wind Symphony at the upcoming national CBDNA convention in Fort Worth this March. During his visit, Stephenson spent time working with the ensemble and conducting class, offering insights into his compositional process and fine tuning various aspects of the work.

The premiere of Stephenson’s Fifth Symphony will be a highlight of this year’s CBDNA, showcasing the university’s exceptional wind program and Stephenson’s continued contributions to contemporary wind band repertoire.

The TCU Wind Symphony will present a featured concert on Friday, March 28 at 6:00pm CDT as we host the CBDNA’s national conference. Director of Bands Bobby R. Francis will lead the wind symphony through three world premieres in the Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU.

Performing at the CBDNA national conference is one of the most significant honors a college wind band can receive, and we are honored to additionally host our colleagues from across the country at our beautiful campus here in Fort Worth. We hope to see everyone attend our free concert as we celebrate this significant achievement through great music and our students’ outstanding artistry!
