For , we’re highlighting Rachel Carson, American marine biologist, author, and pioneer of the environmental movement. Carson is best-known for her 1962 book, Silent Spring, which brought the widespread misuse of pesticides into the public discourse and ultimately helped lead to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Cynthia Zmich presenting her poster at Second chance to hear her present is coming up next Friday at the PA Research Exchange!

Between sessions we were able to check out all the amazing posters. While there we got to talk to Cythina Zmich about her fascinating research using population genetics to help conservation efforts with Bioko Monkeys. She found that there is a large amount of diversity in the DNA profiles of the monkeys which suggests the genetic health of the species is improving.
