HOW IT STARTED ➡️ HOW IT’S GOING

Finally…introducing THE Bobby Gatlin! Originally from the panhandle of Florida, Bobby’s first title at Samford was “Samford Dad,” as both of his kids are Samford grads. Before joining the team as Campus Pastor in 2019, Bobby and his wife Kerri spent nearly thirty years serving students and families in local churches in the greater Nashville, Dallas, and Atlanta areas.

Bobby is the fearless leader of the Spiritual Life team and helps to steward and shape the spiritual climate on campus. He desires to connect with students from all parts of campus and help them choose to “walk the walk” of a disciple every day. Bobby and Kerri love spending time together, traveling to new places, or gathering the family together for a weekend on the water!

Introducing Felicia “Fish” Belter! Originally from Gainesville, GA, Fish came to Samford as a graduate student at Beeson Divinity. Before joining the Samford team in 2014, she served in local church ministry, specifically kids, students, and college ministry. Fish brings the laughs to OSL with her fun personality and her many hidden talents.

As the Global Missions Scholars Program Coordinator, Fish mentors, mobilizes, and equips college students to live missionally as they reach the nations for the sake of the Gospel. She loves meeting students to hear their hearts and point them toward Christ. Fish and her husband, Jake, have three children, and on a free weekend, you can catch the Belters outside enjoying God’s creation.

HOW IT STARTED ➡️ HOW IT’S GOING

Introducing Todd Oakley! Originally from Peachtree City, GA, Todd first came to Samford as a student at the Brock School of Business, where he met his wife, Lindsay. After graduating, He served in local church ministry in Birmingham and Memphis for 13 years before returning to Samford as the Associate Campus Minister in 2020.

Todd is OSL’s jack of all trades, overseeing the cadre program, connecting with faculty and staff, and championing students. He loves walking alongside young adults during this pivotal season, helping them to own their faith and live for Jesus. He and Lindsay enjoy spending time together, cheering on their two teenage daughters in all they do. One of his favorite titles is “Girl Dad!”

Introducing Taylor McQueen! Originally from Panama City, Florida, Taylor came to Samford in January of 2023. Prior to joining our team, she served in girls ministry at a local church in the Auburn/Opelika area for 8 years.

She serves as the Associate Campus Minister where she oversees Samford Small Groups and connects with students regularly. Tay brings the party to the OSL team! She is passionate about meeting college students right where they are and pointing them to Jesus. Nothing brings her more joy than being Aunt Tay to her niece and nephew!

Introducing Caroline Hix! Originally from Orlando, Florida, Caroline has been at Samford since her college days. She serves as the Program & Events Coordinator on our team, overseeing our student workers and convocation program, and helps execute the logistics in our office. She is the glue of OSL! Caroline’s favorite part of her job is working closely with our incredible student workers. Caroline and her husband, John, are expecting their first child at the beginning of September!
