It's National Library Workers Day! The only reason libraries are able to provide the services they can is thanks to the incredible efforts of the librarians who work there, so today if you find yourself in a library, make sure to thank your local librarian!

Have you ever come across Blackout Poetry? It's a really interesting and fun form of poetry, created by selecting words and phrases out of a pre-existing page of text, then blacking out the rest to reveal only the chosen words.
Come try it out for National Poetry Month here at JFK Library! You can take the finished poem home with you, or if you want we can put it up for people to read! You can be as anonymous as you want, but come try it out for yourself!
04/02/2024
Have you ever wanted to read or write poetry, but didn't know where to start? Well don't worry, some of the best poets in the world have had no formal training, so put a pen to paper and give it your best!
If you do want some advice however, we here at JFK Library have a collection of books perfect for any would-be poets to check out and read. Give one of them a shot, as well as our collections of poems on display!

This is no April Fools joke, the entire month of April is not only National Poetry Month, but also School Library Month! Come on down and celebrate your local school library with us here at JFK Library!
03/27/2024
The past year has been tough for libraries; there have been more attempts to ban books than ever before, with 1,247 attempts to remove books from libraries in 2023 alone. But the second week of April is National Library Week, where libraries across the United States celebrate librarians and those who work in them. In particular, April 9th is National Library Workers Day, where we celebrate the people who keep our libraries going.
Do you have a librarian who has made a difference in your life? If so, please fill out this form!
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SubmitAStarforNLWD
Then on April 9th, we can see all of the different ways library workers have helped change the world.

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? In pre-celebration of it, and with National Women's History Month not being over, we'd like to ask you all a question!
Who is your favorite female poet?
There's a ton of great answers out there, from Emily Dickinson (my personal favorite!) to Maya Angelou, Penelope Fitzgerald, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, Gabriela Mistral, and so many more!
Let us know below: who's your favorite?

Need a book for a research project but afraid that somebody else will get to it first?
Did you know that you can reserve books at JFK Library? Simply log into your DragonZone account and go to the "Library Services" section of the Resources Tab on the left-hand side. From there click on the link for "Library Services" under JFK Library, and it'll take you to our online catalog!
Find a book you want to place a hold on, and click the orange "Place Hold" button to finish filling out the info!
Our staff will then find the book for you on our shelves, and keep it ready for pick-up at the circulation desk.
All you need to do then is to come into the library and ask for the book! Make sure to bring your student ID so we can check it out for you, but it's that easy!
Hold a book for your next research assignment now!
