Introducing Distinguished Dragon: Brooke Backhaus
From Newkirk, Oklahoma, Brooke completed an Associate of Science while at HutchCC. Her nominator writes, “The skilled first baseman for the Blue Dragons softball team, Brooke has shown remarkable dedication both on the field and in the classroom. Her strong performance in macroeconomics reflects her academic commitment and intellectual curiosity.” He then adds, “Brooke's leadership and teamwork on the softball field, combined with her academic achievements, make her deserving of this honor. She truly exemplifies the qualities of excellence and perseverance.”
In addition to being a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Brooke was repeatedly named to the President’s Honor Roll thanks to her great work in the classroom. She also volunteered at the Hutchinson Animal Shelter.
One of her favorite memories was going to the National Tournament in Alabama with the softball team. She would also like to thank Coach Jamie Rose and Coach Ray Aguirre for all of their support during her time at HutchCC.
