Congratulations to Dr. Mary Frankovsky who successfully defended her dissertation on March 4.

Dr. Frankovsky’s dissertation was titled, "Using Educational Communication Technology to Increase Parent Engagement and Build Parent Capacity at a Title I Elementary School: A Case Study.”

Committee included Dr. Yvonne Earnshaw (Co-chair), Dr. Yi Jin (Co-chair), Dr. Jabari Cain, Dr. Julia Fuller, and Dr. Iván Jorrín Abellán.

Dr. Jennifer Trail successfully defended her dissertation on November 1. Her dissertation was titled “How Teachers and Students Create and Experience Social Presence Through Community Building and Self-Disclosure in Middle School Synchronous Online Learning Environments: A Qualitative Case Study.” Her dissertation committee is Dr. Tiffany Roman (chair), Dr. Dabae Lee, and Dr. Jen Wells.

"I have been teaching middle school math and social studies for 13 years in Title I schools. One of my goals while in the Instructional Technology program was to enhance my learning with the use of digital tools. ISTE certification has helped prepare me to model effective practice for other educators. I hope to become a leader in my school and district to foster more enriching technology experiences for our students"

Another SITI Alumni Success! Kelley Grogan recently received her ISTE certification, which has enhanced her professional status, developed additional teaching skills, and prepared her to model effective teaching practices for other educators.

Kelley is excited about the network of professional connections she will make by being part of the ISTE community, especially since ISTE is an internationally recognized, reputable organization.
