Last week, Dr. Plummer spoke in chapel on 1 Peter 2 and the necessity of keeping both God’s judgement and mercy in mind during times of persecution.
This week in chapel President Williams continued his series, What in the World are We Doing? Biblical Perspectives on Our Relationships, Roles, and Responsibilities, speaking on our roles as citizens and neighbors: “Good citizenship requires responsibility. It is a form of stewardship. The blessings, freedoms, and privileges we have as citizens should not be squandered or taken for granted any more than time, talent, or money.”
Cairn University: Matching Gift Week 2024
Today marks the beginning of Matching Gift Week and we have been challenged to raise $200,000! We eagerly anticipate all that the Lord will do in and through our friends, alumni, families, staff, and faculty this week. Earlier this week in chapel, Dr. Bryan Murawski expounded on Isaiah 5, pointing out that the word of judgement given in the passage also acts as a call to turn back to God and an offer of forgiveness with repentance: “It is not too late for you to turn back to God.”
This week in chapel for World Reach Week, Chris Fletcher of Handi*Vangelism shared a reminder about being both faithful in present circumstances as well as open to new callings from God.
On Monday of this week in chapel, Dr. Todd J. Williams re-commenced his series, “What in the World are we Doing? A Biblical Perspective on our Relationships, Roles, and Responsibilities” with an exploration of the Bible’s emphasis on glorifying God in our different roles in life, specifically addressing the Christian’s obligation to the church and discussing how the church exists not for entertainment but for our growth, the growth of others, and blessing to the world.
Merry Christmas Eve from Cairn University!
Closing out his chapel series for the semester, President Williams reminded the Cairn community that a hopeful outlook should characterize the Christian's attitude towards the possibility of marriage and family. He pointed out that to say "I couldn't possibly be married and have a family because my family was an absolute train wreck'" is to miss the hope held out to us in the promises of God, encouraging students to instead recognize that "in the economy of Jesus, hope and redemption permeate all of life."
B.J. Hess, Chair of the Board of Trustees, spoke in a recent chapel and shared a powerful personal testimony of leaning on God and referenced Proverbs 3, highlighting how “acknowledging God in all our ways” includes trusting in His goodness in even the most difficult of circumstances.
This past Monday in chapel, President Williams continued his series "What in the World are we Doing? A Biblical Perspective on our Roles, Relationships, and Responsibilities in Life", describing a faithful approach to dating, romantic relationships, and marriage: “We don't just have the opportunity to enjoy marriage, we have the obligation to uphold it."
In chapel last week, Dr. Gregory Parker Jr. spoke on Luke 28–36, touching on Christ’s grace towards the disciples in their weakness and confusion—a grace which He also extends to us in our own weakness and confusion.

Cairn University and United East Conference
Cairn University Athletics programs are now a member of the United East Conference.
Following an initial announcement of an intent to merge in December, the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) and the United East Conference will officially merge and begin operating as one entity, effective July 1, 2023.
Completion of the merger provides added stability and sustainability to both current leagues. With 10 institutions from the CSAC and seven from the United East, the conference will boast 17 full member institutions. The new United East Conference will solidify competitive opportunities for its student-athletes, expand its sport sponsorship, and provide financial stability for the conference.
Cairn President, Dr. Todd Williams, who will chair the newly merged conference for the next two-year term, stated: “The merger of these two athletic conferences has been a gratifying process. All who have been a part of this process believe it will benefit our student-athletes and institutions tremendously."
