Each bead in this jar represents a birth I’ve been honored to support as a doula or photographer: 5 pink beads for the baby girls, 8 blue beads for the baby boys, and 2 white beads for the angel babies I was able to photograph shortly after their arrival. I’m so honored to do what I do. 🤍

A few months ago I shared some pictures from this birth, I thought now I'd share the birth video that I did. I love how it turned out and was so happy to be there for a beautfiul water birth!

Welcome to the world, Amara!

Seeing the incredible bond between Lorena and her husband, Joey, surrounded by an amazing birth team, was truly heartwarming. Witnessing her roar and gently talk with her baby girl while working so hard to get the water birth she desired so much was nothing short of inspiring. Joey got to catch Amara and bring her to Lorena's chest, just as they'd hoped for.

I met Lorena for the first time almost 3 years ago when I attended the birth of her 4th baby, my first birth as a doula, and again the next year for her 5th baby. This time, I had the privilege to capture videos and photos as she welcomed the final addition to their family. It has been so special being there for 3 of her beautiful births.

Stay tuned for the video coming soon!

Today marks Bereaved Mother's Day, a day to honor the strength and resilience of grieving mothers and to cherish the memory of their children who left too soon.
I'm reminded of how grateful I am to be part of The Lansing Doula Network. With the help of a grant, we stand along sound families navigating pregnancy or infant loss, offering free prenatal, birth, and postpartum support. The Lansing Doula Network has already helped many bereaved families, and we're committed to supporting more. If you're in need, know that we're here for you.
Today, let’s unite in sending love and support to all the moms who have faced the loss of a pregnancy or a child. Moms, if you're comfortable, share a comment below with the name, a memory, or a photo of your child(ren) who left us too soon, and lets honor and celebrate their memory together.❤️

So excited to be apart of this! Stay tuned for more info on a teen class I’ll be running this summer!!

We're so excited to announce the launch of our newest grant, with Willow Tree Family Center: support for teen parents!

With this grant, we will provide full doula services (prenatal, birth, and postpartum) to a limited number of pregnant teens in the tri-county area.

We also will be able to provide education to any local pregnant or parenting teen, or caregivers of the children of pregnant or parenting teens. Classes offered will include childbirth education, infant sleep, lactation, newborn care, and infant CPR.

If you know a pregnant or parenting teen, please share with them. We will be accepting registration for classes as soon as they are scheduled with our expert instructors!

Happy 15th birthday to my baby sister Kyleigh. Whenever someone asks me “What made you want to become a doula?” I always tell them I knew when I was 8 years old, after I watched my mom give birth to Kyleigh. Obviously I didn’t know what a doula was at the time, but I thought witnessing birth was the coolest thing ever, and here I am 15 years later with the exact same feelings! ❤️

We’re doulas, of course us at the Lansing Doula Network had to join in on the trend! 😂

Just a look into some of the things I do at a birth as a doula. Supporting Lorena Kane through her 5th unmedicated birth in December (my second time being her doula.) It is always such a rewarding experience that I can't quite put into words.

I never got around to sharing these, but I LOVE them. Photo credits to another doula/photographer Hanna Russo Doula thank you so much again!

It is such an honor to witness how hard birthing people work to bring their babies into the world up until the moment they first hold them in their arms. It never gets old. Another great birth at University of Michigan Women's Hospital I doula-ed and photographed at back in November.

A beautiful birth I got to capture at my favorite hospital earlier this month! Ilaena Liang - Doula I am so proud of you for working so hard! So many things I love just from this one photo.
• The relief on mom’s face after MANY weeks of prodromal labor.
•Where she gave birth! The toilet! She labored there for an hour and delivered her right there, pulled her baby out herself and put her on her chest.
• Her amazing doula physically holding her up and supporting her along the way with such a proud smile on her face.
•The midwife in the corner (barely can see) just watching, hands off the entire time! She did not interfere with the psychological birth process and was only there if a need arose.
