DOGE-driven cuts to federal programs continue to hit hard here in Michigan and across the nation. Our partners at the College Access Network have lost $2.1 million in AmeriCorps funding that supports their AdviseMI staff. In the 2023–24 academic year, students supported by AdviseMI advisers submitted 21,420 college applications and were awarded more than $32 million in financial aid. These cuts will have a devastating impact on college access in Michigan.

At least 100 organizations focused on college access rely on funding from AmeriCorps—the latest victim of the Trump administration’s draconian funding cuts.
