The SMART Laboratory is a 2000 square-foot facility housed in the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center, an innovative joint partnership between George Mason University, Prince William County and the City of Manassas, located on the Prince William campus of George Mason University. The laboratory has recently been expanded across campus, and is also located in a 800 square-foot facility within the Fiel
d House (Fairfax, VA). The SMART laboratory faculty conducts evidence-based research in the areas of lower extremity injury prevention, neuromechanical assessment of lower extremity, concussion, and sports performance.

We hosted another group of students in our lab today and demonstrated motion capture, force plates, wearables and VR! Huge thanks for our graduate students who helped out. Great way to end the semester as we head into the holiday season!
We hosted a group of high school students in the lab today from Chantilly High School who are taking a personal training course. They learned about several types of physiological and body composition assessments in the SMART lab. Thanks for visiting!

We have been working on a project to support the VA Army National Guard with the implementation of the new H2F program. Yesterday the VAANG H2F coordinator visited our lab to try out some of the tests we hope to be able to provide to soon to the NG to support their health and wellness.
A big congratulations to our graduate student Ashley Hromyak for being awarded a scholarship, which was presented to her during the men's basketball game this Friday! The scholarship is given to a student at Mason who is a veteran and making the day extra special was being awarded the scholarship on Veteran's Day. We are very proud of you Ashley!

Meet Cameron Harris who is one of our MS Kinesiology students. Cameron has been working in the SMART Lab since starting the program and has an internship with the DC United this semester. This spring Cameron will graduate and plans to pursue a career in sports science.

We've been conducting testing on a number of collegiate and professional basketball players recently to help them prepare for the draft and Summer leagues. Shout out to our MS student Cameron Harris for leading the testing. Cameron played college basketball and plans to pursue a career in sports science working with basketball players after he graduates.
Happy Birthday to our MS student Ashley Hromyak! This semester Ashley has been doing a great job working in the lab and taking over our social media account. If you see her this week make sure to wish her Happy Birthday!
