Lansing Community College Aviation Technology The Official page of LCC Aviation Technology. Our intensive two-year program consists of year-round curriculum, 5.5 hours a day, five days a week.

Courses and trainings take place in classrooms, laboratories, and in real-world settings, including our brand new Aviation Technology Center in Mason, MI. The options are endless for your future. Upon completion of our program you will have earned two associate’s degrees and three certificates. Our brand new, state-of-the-art Aviation Technology Center at the Mason Jewett Airport is considered top

-notch by the industry, educators and the community. Many say there is not a better program in the Midwest with better facilities. Our Center, which is located on an active airstrip, includes a dedicated hangar equipped with classrooms, computer lab and separate bay workstations. All students learn on industry-current machines and technology and work hands-on with big and small planes.

LCC URGENT ALERT: LCC is suspending on-campus classes and operations on Thursday, Feb. 13, due to severe winter weather.

Online and online real-time courses will continue as scheduled.

All face-to-face and hybrid courses should follow instructions written into the section of the course syllabus titled “Emergency Closure/Remote Instruction.” Faculty: Please reach out to your students with further instructions if needed.

Employees who were scheduled for on-campus work but can work remotely are required to do so.

Please note this is not a move to remote classes and operations.
LCC will be closed and all classes, operations, and activities will be canceled beginning at 3 p.m.

All classes and operations should continue as scheduled until 3 p.m.

LCC will continue to monitor conditions for Thursday, Feb. 13. No decision has been made yet about classes or operations for Thursday.

Just a few more days until Spring semester begins for our returning students. First year students are beginning Airframe and 2nd year students will be fully immersed in Powerplant (and several starting the semester as licensed Airframe Mechanics).

With just a few more days of break left, or if you are joining us in the fall, it's a great time to submit your application for the LCC Foundation Scholarships. You cannot win a scholarship if you do not apply. Deadline is January 31, 2025.

The Experimental Aircraft Association-Chapter 55 of Mason has named two students as recipients of their Newberry Aviation Scholarship for 2024/2025. Elizabeth Kester was awarded $1,500 and Dennis Bennett was awarded $1,000 toward their education at Lansing Community College Aviation Technology, whose campus is right here in Mason at Mason Jewett Field. They each will also receive a free one-year Honorary membership in EAA Chapter 55 and a free six-month membership from EAA national.

EAA Chapter 55 has a longstanding commitment to support educational opportunities for students seeking aviation careers. These students were chosen based on a combination of academic achievement. community engagement and defined goals for a future in aviation.

The Chapter raises funds to support their scholarship program by hosting a Pancake Breakfast in June and Mason Aviation Day in August. Additional information about the chapter and their fundraising events can be found by visiting the website chapters.eaa.org/eaa55

Did you know Phoebe Omlie was the first woman to obtain her airplane mechanics license in 1927! According to the 2022 Women in Aviation Advisory Board report women only make up 2.6% of maintenance technicians. The power of one, if fearless and focused, is formidable; but the power of many working together is better!
