🌟FACULTY SPOTLIGHT🌟
Dr. Keith Clifton presented a paper titled “I am so ordinary: Paula Cole and the 'Disruptive Diva' Post-Lilith” at the 2025 national conference of the Popular Culture Association (PCA). The conference was in New Orleans, LA, and he presented on April 17, 2025.

As the world's largest gathering of popular culture scholars, the conference was attended by over 2000 scholars, students, and admirers of pop culture. Dr. Clifton's paper is part of an ongoing series of projects related to the often-overlooked role of women in American popular music.

Congrats to you, Dr. Clifton, for sharing your findings and having this opportunity to present! We love to see what our faculty will do next! 🔥☝

Music is Central

The School of Music is the artistic hub of Central Michigan University.

The School’s dedicated faculty of artist/teachers, a rigorous curriculum, and the outstanding accomplishments of our students and alumni are fueling its success and recognition.

Through regularly updated degree programs, outreach to the schools and community, exceptional research, creative activity, and service to the discipline, the School of Music has become the nexus of a cultural/music network that extends from the elementary general music classroom to the concert stage, from mid-Michigan to the nation and beyond.

The students, faculty, and alumni of the School of Music form a close community united by a love for teaching, learning and making music.
